King’s Lynn’s literature festival: 27-29 September

Look out at the end of September for King’s Lynn’s newly revamped Literature Festival. Taking place from Friday 27- Sunday 29 September, it will feature seventeen writers engaging over six sessions over a busy weekend of discussions, readings and interviews. You can also talk to the authors more informally over the weekend and book ‘Lunch with the Writers’ on both Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th September.


The Small Festival with a Big Heart

Now known as The Small Festival with a Big Heart’, its dynamic new chair and director, Sherie Naidoo, has amalgamated the former Fiction and Poetry Festivals, giving the whole thing an enticing new format.

There are so many headline names in the programme. These include Simon Lewis OBE, current presenter of the BBC Radio 4 podcast  ‘When it hits the Fan’. He will be in conversation with Sir Vernon Bogdanor, author of the soon to be published ‘Making the Weather’, all about people who have helped to shape the political landscape.

Ely based poet Wendy Cope will bring her familiar wit. In addition there’s the charm of  thriller writer  Louise Doughty, and the insightful DJ Taylor.  Guidance on getting a book published  will be given by Kate Macdonald of the aptly named ‘Handheld Press’, plus there will be the return of the fascinating Lisa St Aubin de Teran.
And making a debut appearance in advance of the publication of her memoir Named, in 2025, is Camilla Balshaw, well known as a journalist and member of the Black Writer’s Guild.
