Olana Light

Olana Light explores the intricate relationship between humans and the natural world. Moving between sculpture, performance, and moving images, she investigates themes of belonging and identity. Essentially she is fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility for the planet. Above all, Olana Light recognises that we are an integral part of nature. She aims to create spaces where the human body merges seamlessly with the environment.

Metaphors for our interconnectedness with nature

“My projects, such as “Searching for a Place to Belong,” use wearable sculptures made from sustainably sourced materials, which I document through self-portraits and portraits of women. These works serve as metaphors for our interconnectedness with nature and the importance of preserving fragile ecosystems.”

“I am eager to join GroundWork NetWork because its mission aligns closely with my own. I believe that fostering a collaborative space where artists, scientists, and environmentalists converge can deepen understanding and inspire meaningful change. Being part of this interdisciplinary community will provide opportunities to share ideas, amplify climate action, and explore innovative ways to promote a sustainable future through art. I look forward to contributing my voice and practice to this inspiring network.”
