Jane Frost draws, stitches, weaves and constructs work with natural, recycled and adapted materials. She constructs larger pieces that include growing materials, still using structures of weaving, spinning and stitching.

Tree, pathway, river, needle, thread, fabric
The nature and outcome of Jane Frost ’s work can be very varied. The tree, pathway or river may be the form; the needle, thread or fabric may be the tool. However, the active process and relationship between the elements she choose in creating, are her priority.
Jane Frost is interested in sense of place. Through her work she aims to provide a medium that will allow positive expression of community and environment. Raising awareness of ts history and future, and its long-term sustainable development she creates spaces that enhance lives both visually and practically.

Community, contemplation and prayer
“During the period of C19 lock down I created an labyrinth on a local green space, to provide an area where people could be both alone and in community, exercise safely and be connected to the environment, this became a well used space for over 4 years. My work is influenced by and benefits from community projects and spending time in contemplation and prayer.”

Jane Frost deliberately balances periods of time spent working with groups with working alone in the studio.
“I make solo work for exhibition, presentations, and as part of longer-term projects in collaboration with other artists and practitioners.”

Refining projects and skills
The Groundwork NetWork matters to me because I have been working in the region and further afield for over 30 years. I would like to have links with the community of GroundWork Gallery because the skills and knowledge held are rarely found in a group outside universities or large cities. i have long term projects that need refining, and anticipate being challenged in my work approach, which I am sure will improve the results.
