An event for Norfolk & Norwich Festival.
Featuring Stevie Wishart and Harriet Tarlo
Coinciding with GroundWork’s latest exhibition, Plant Power, ‘Resilient Plants with Poetry and Music’ will engage your senses to focus on plants. This evening will bring us to a truly original and new collaboration in words and music between poet Harriet Tarlo and composer Stevie Wishart.

Resilient plants of the saltmarsh
At the foundation of the exhibition, poet Harriet Tarlo and her partner artist, the late Judith Tucker, were working on a long-term project about the pioneer resilient plants on the salt marshes of the North Lincolnshire coast. Now solo, Harriet is continuing this study to consider the power of resilient plants which inhabit inhospitable places. Stevie has recently moved to King’s Lynn. She also has a strongly environmental practice, as a member of the international Ecotones Network, and having composed music with and for birds and trees.
An original way to interpret ecology
For this event, Harriet and Stevie will be exploring a whole new way to interpret ecology, using voice, and musical instrument to respond to nature. This is the first time these two great artists have performed together so we are in for wonderful surprises.
Afterparty
Afterwards, as an additional perk for your ticket, Stevie will be opening her Grade II* historic building, Greenland Fishery (7 minutes walk from GroundWork) for a pot-luck afterparty, so bring along some contributions to refreshments and join us. Stevie is intending to run Greenland Music there as a centre for both new and historical music. Additional cash donations for the future of her music projects will, of course, also be welcome.
