The current exhibition Deep Water is attracting much interest. So, several of the artists came to lead a Deep Water discussion in real life, on 7th December from 4 till 7 pm followed by drinks. It was for us, a new kind of discussion event. It will be live, with a virtual element. We didn’t broadcast it – but will put a few things here eventually.
Meet some of the artists
We had a convivial tour of the exhibition together with the artists and some of their collaborators. Those who could join us live did and the others joined by recorded film, on WhatsApp, Zoom and old-fashioned telephone. With us on the day were Liz McGowan, Mary Blue and glass artist Phillipa Silcock. Joining us live via Zoom and WhatApp were Zena Holloway, Julia Manning and, by phone and Powerpoint, her adviser eel expert Andy Don, who beamed in from the West Country. Colleen Flanigan ‘s work came to life virtually thanks to Karen Eng and her VR Headset which enabled us to go virtually underwater with her work. Dawn Roe popped in by film from the United States. Aude Bourgine from Rouen will make us a little text in French.
We talked about what has inspired and informed the artists, as well as what is inspiring and informing us, the viewers about what we see and feel.
